Eligibility for District and State Competitions
Eligibility for the Boaz Barracudas, and participation in ARPA District II and State competitions, hinges significantly on residency and school attendance. To represent our team, athletes must either reside within the geographical boundaries of ARPA District II or attend school full-time within those same boundaries. This requirement ensures that our team represents our local community and maintains the integrity of the competition.
Furthermore, ARPA regulations stipulate that if a participant resides in a city that offers its own Parks and Recreation swimming program, they are obligated to participate with that city's program. This rule prevents the dilution of local programs and encourages participation within established city-run initiatives. However, an exception is made for participants whose parent or guardian is a full-time, paid employee of an affiliate's Parks and Recreation department, allowing them to compete with that affiliate regardless of their residential address.
In situations where a participant resides in a city that lacks a recreational swimming program, they are required to join the geographically closest affiliate program within District II. The "geographically closest" designation is determined by the distance between the participant's home and the nearest athletic facility where the program is offered. Additionally, all participants must be prepared to provide proof of residency or school attendance upon request, ensuring compliance with these eligibility requirements.
