Code of Conduct

This Code of Conduct applies to all swimmers, parents, coaches, and volunteers associated with the Boaz Barracudas. We are committed to fostering a positive, supportive, and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.


Swimmers


  • Respect:
  • Treat coaches, teammates, officials, and opposing team members with respect at all times.
  • Listen attentively to coaches' instructions and follow them diligently.
  • Respect the pool facilities and equipment.
  • Refrain from bullying, harassment, or any form of discrimination.


  • Sportsmanship:
  • Demonstrate good sportsmanship, both in victory and defeat.
  • Congratulate opponents and teammates on their efforts.
  • Adhere to the rules of swimming and compete fairly.
  • Represent the team with pride and integrity.


  • Commitment and Responsibility
  • Attend practices and meets regularly and punctually.
  • Communicate with coaches regarding absences or lateness.
  • Give your best effort in practices and meets.
  • Take responsibility for your actions and their consequences.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.


  • Safety
  • Follow all safety rules and guidelines.
  • Report any injuries or unsafe conditions to a coach immediately.
  • Refrain from horseplay or disruptive behavior in the pool area.


Parents/Guardians


  • Support and Encouragement
  • Provide positive support and encouragement to all swimmers, not just your own.
  • Focus on effort and improvement, rather than solely on winning.
  • Refrain from criticizing coaches or officials in front of swimmers.
  • Allow coaches to do their job.


  • Respectful Conduct
  • Treat coaches, officials, and other parents with respect.
  • Refrain from unsportsmanlike conduct, including abusive language or gestures.
  • Adhere to pool rules and regulations.
  • Respect the officials decisions.


  • Volunteerism
  • Actively participate in team volunteer activities.
  • Fulfill volunteer commitments responsibly.


  • Communication
  • Communicate with coaches respectfully and appropriately.
  • Address concerns through the proper channels.
  • Stay informed about team activities.


Coaches


  • Professionalism
  • Act as positive role models for swimmers.
  • Provide a safe and supportive training environment.
  • Treat all swimmers with fairness and respect.
  • Provide quality instruction.


  • Safety and Well-being
  • Prioritize the safety and well-being of swimmers.
  • Provide appropriate supervision during practices and meets.
  • Respond promptly to injuries or emergencies.


  • Communication and Collaboration
  • Communicate effectively with swimmers and parents.
  • Collaborate with other coaches and team officials.


  • Adherence to Rules
  • Follow all USA swimming rules, and all league rules.


Volunteers


  • Respectful Conduct
  • Treat all swimmers, coaches, and parents with respect.
  • Adhere to pool rules and regulations.
  • Responsibility
  • Fulfill volunteer commitments responsibly.
  • Follow all instructions given by the team.


Consequences of Violations

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, including but not limited to:

  • Verbal warning
  • Suspension from practices or meets
  • Removal from the team


The severity of the disciplinary action will be determined by the coaching staff and/or team board, based on the nature and severity of the violation.
